He spent 4 years on the Heart-Lung transplant team at Papworth Hospital Cambridge and 6 years at the prestigious St Bartholomew\u2019s Hospital London. He finished his medical career as an NHS consultant chest physician at the Royal Bolton Hospital, Lancashire.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time he was a much sought after humorous after-dinner speaker with his tales of the less serious side of hospital medicine.
