SUMMARY:Annual Memorial Game
DESCRIPTION:We take on Kearsley CC in the annual memorial game. \nWe have a 15 over game starting at 5:45pm at the Rigbys. \nWreaths will be laid before the game\, we ask that all who can be present to show their respects are. \nBar is open…come down and enjoy some local cricket in the sun \nFor those who do not know the history of the fixture\, this is from the club history:\nTwelve months later on 29th April 1922 Lt. Col. Hardcastle dedicated the ground to the cricket club in memory of the members who had fallen in the Great War. In a magnanimous gesture the Colonel had\, a few weeks before on the 11th of March\, legally agreed to donate the ground to the cricket club\, and have trustees appointed to secure permanently the use of the ground for the cricket club. A memorial stone was unveiled at the dedication on which each member’s name was inscribed. Kearsley were again the visitors\, and each year since on the date of the Bradshaw v. Kearsley match\, the captain of each side has placed a wreath on the memorial at a ceremony during the interval. \nThere are 24 names on the memorial\, for details click here.
